The humanitarian minesweeping training course given by China in aid of Lebanon and Jordan concluded at the PLA University of Science & Technology in Nanjing yesterday. During the 3-month-long training period, 40 students from Lebanon and Jordan received theoretic training on basic knowledge of land mines and minefield, principles of mine detecting and sweeping, and application of minesweeping equipment, etc. In addition, the foreign trainees also had the chance to have on-the-spot mine detecting and sweeping operations, and organize and command minesweeping operations in the simulated minefield. This training course represents another contribution made by China to the international humanitarian de-mining efforts.

According to statistics, since 1999, China has run three minesweeping training courses for foreign students in Chinese military colleges, and has sent abroad minesweeping experts teams for three times to give minesweeping training to foreign trainees. So far China has trained 230 minesweeping personnel in nine countries and donated minesweeping equipment worth several million US dollars to 11 countries.
