In early December, a touring repair group of an ordnance and
ammunition repair station under the Nanjing Military Area Command ran into
a ticklish problem while doing check and repair work in a certain unit.
They transmitted via the network the relevant images and data of the
problem to the long-distance technological support center located over 100
kilometers away, and then solved the problem under the remote guidance of
the rear experts' team.
The ordnance and ammunition repair station is responsible for the
technical support of weapons, ammunitions and optical instruments. In
recent years, the station has made full use of such new scientific
research fruits as the modern digital transmission technology to establish
an information platform of armament support, which has integrated the
long-distance technical support, digitalized trouble diagnosis and
automatic supervision receiving and transmitting.
The establishment and application of the information platform has
made it possible for keeping them well informed about the exact situation
of the armaments and materials inventory and the deployment of the support
forces, and has realized remote appraisal of and transparent control over
the armament support as well as point-to-point precise support.
