It was early winter in a sea area in South China, 12 helicopters with
camouflage paintings swept over the sea waves to attack the " enemy
"targets with the suddenness of a thunderbolt…. This is an over-the-sea
tactical exercise organized by an army aviation regiment, and the success
of the exercise indicates that the mobile operational capability of the
army aviation units in all-aerospace has been gradually boosted. The "army
eagles" which used to fly through clouds to perform missions over ground
battlefields can now carry out combat or service support missions in
offshore air space.
Along with constant expansion of training fields, the army aviation
units have gradually extended its flight training fro the flight over the
land to flight over the sea. In light of the characteristics of the flight
over the sea, such as complex weather conditions, no clear landmarks and
the high degree of difficulty in flight trainings as well as the risks
involved, the army aviation units have carried out training with actual
troops in combination with their maritime training program and have
accomplished a multitude of training tasks such as low-altitude flying and
zero-feet flying at sea, night formation flying at sea as well as a number
of complicated training subjects, such as hovering over the sea, maritime
search-and-rescue operation, parachuting and airborne landing on the sea
without ground guidance. The army aviation units have now produced a batch
of research results with practical operational values, which in turn has
effectively boosted their over-the-sea flight and operational
capabilities.

12架迷彩直升机突然从浪尖上飞掠而过，以迅雷不及掩耳之势向"敌"目标发起突袭……某陆航团组织的这场海上战术课目演练表明：陆军航空兵部队全域机动作战能力逐步提升，昔日陆战场上穿云破雾的"陆鹰"，如今亦能展翅近海空域遂行作战和勤务保障任务。
随着训练领域不断拓展，陆军航空兵部队飞行训练逐步由陆空走向海空。各陆航部队针对海上飞行气象复杂、无明显地标、训练难度高、风险大的特点，结合海训扎实开展实兵演练，先后完成了海上低空、超低空和海上夜间编队飞行，以及海上悬停、海上搜索营救、海上无地面引导伞降空降等多项复杂课目训练，总结了一批有实战价值的研究成果，有效提高了海上飞行和作战指挥能力。
