In autumn, the National Defense University (NDU), China's highest
military institute of learning, has brought forth a new round of
remarkable achievements in its teaching reform. According to President Ma
Xiaotian, after more than three years' continuous reform and innovation,
the NDU has now ushered in a new period of rapid development of overall
transformation, and is taking a steady step forward on the road of
building itself into a world-class comprehensive joint command university
with Chinese characteristics.
The educational platform has been greatly enlarged. In the last year
alone, more than 300 Party, government and military leaders as well as
well-known scholars and celebrities from China and abroad were invited to
give lectures at the NDU. In addition, the NUD has also teamed up with
Peking University, National University of Defense Technology and other
prestigious universities inside and outside the army to run the school in
a cooperative way, and organized the joint teaching and training
activities in partnership with the field troops. At the same time, the NDU
organized its students to go abroad to make study tour. Last year alone,
it organized over 300 students to visit more than 10 countries on study
tour.
The structure of teaching faculty becomes more rational. The NDU has
absorbed large number of military leaders from combat troops of various
services and arms into its teaching contingent. Meanwhile, it makes
efforts to form a new "three-in-one" contingent of teachers, a contingent
formed by professors, military instructors and guest lecturers, and has
engaged 50-odd part-time professors.
Over the past three years, the NDU has accomplished over 300 research
subjects assigned to it by the state, the Central Military Commission, the
PLA four general headquarters/departments as well as those chosen by the
school itself, and many of these research results have been used by the
Central Military Commission and the PLA four general
headquarters/departments in their decision-making. In addition, a spate of
advanced scientific research achievements which are of great significance
towards the joint operational training of the PLA have come out.

特约记者林培雄、记者武天敏报道：金秋时节，中国最高军事学府国防大学新一轮教学改革亮点频闪。校长马晓天介绍说，国防大学经过3年多的改革创新，已进入整体转型快速发展的新阶段，向着创办具有世界先进水平和我军特色的综合性联合指挥大学迈出坚实步伐。
教育平台大幅拓展。仅去年，就有300多名党政军领导和国内外的名家登上国防大学讲台。他们先后与北京大学、国防科技大学等军内外院校合作办学，并与部队开展联教联训。同时，组织学员走出国门考察调研，仅去年就有300余名学员到10多个国家访问见学。
教员结构渐趋合理。学校成批引进军兵种作战部队军事领导来校任教。同时，着力构建"教授型、教官型、外聘型"三位一体的教员队伍新体系，建立了50多人的兼职教授队伍。
3年多来，全校完成国家、军委总部和学校课题300余项，许多成果进入军委、总部决策，一批对全军联合作战训练具有重要意义的高等级科研成果相继问世。 |
