A repair factory of the aviation center of the air force under the
Chengdu Military Area Command developed a new type of anti-typhoon cable,
with which aviation units can effectively protect their fighter planes
against typhoon. On Nov. 2, 2006, this type of cable is equipped to an
aviation regiment of the air force under the Chengdu Military Area
Command.
Since the inception of this year, the strong typhoons have made
frequent landfalls in China, posing a threat to training safety of the
aviation force. In light of this situation, a repair factory of an
aviation center of the air force under the Chengdu Military Area Command
sent its technicians to troops and factories to conduct surveys and
organized experts to make extensive study and conduct repeated tests. In
the process of developing the new cable, the factory, by taking into full
consideration the impact of strong typhoon as well as the saline and humid
air in the coastal regions, purposely thickened the cable and gave
anti-erosion treatment to cable surface on the basis of the cables used by
the aviation units before, through which the strength and durability of
the new cable have been greatly increased. As a result, the new type of
cable is able to provide powerful support to the training safety of
new-type fighter planes.

本报成都11月2日电 陈敏、刘应华报道：今天，成空某航空中心修理厂研制的某新型战机防台风钢索，装备了成空航空兵某团。
今年以来，强台风频频登陆我国，对航空兵的训练安全构成了威胁。针对这种情况，成空某航空中心修理厂迅速组织技术人员到部队和工厂调研，并组织专家进行反复论证试验。考虑到强台风和盐湿空气的影响，在研制过程中，他们在原有钢索的基础上对其进行了加粗和表面防腐蚀处理，增加了钢索的强度和耐用性，为新型战机训练提供了有力的安全保障。
