Brought about by the typhoon, a torrential rain pounded the Manila
Harbor from the evening of Oct. 29 till the nest day. The adverse weather
was not able to prevent the task force from the Chinese Navy to round off
its visit to the Philippines at 9:00 O'clock on the morning of Oct. 30,
when the siren of returning home rang. Notwithstanding the lingering
storm, more than 100 people, including Raul D Ruivivar, the fleet
commander of the Philippine Navy, representatives of the Chinese
institutions and Chinese holding agencies in Philippines, local Chinese
national and overseas Chinese, students studying in Philippines and
representatives of Chinese veterans who participated in the Anti-Japanese
War and are now living in the Philippines went to the Manila Harbor to see
off the task force of the Chinese Navy.
During the visit to Manila, the Chinese task force received warm
hospitality shown by the Philippine military, local government, the
Chinese Embassy and overseas Chinese in the Philippines. Commanders of the
task force of the Chinese Navy exchanged experience and views with
high-ranking Philippine military leaders and governmental officials on
several occasions, during which both sides expressed the strong wish of
further strengthening the cooperation. Officers and men of both the
visiting Chinese ships and the Philippine Navy exchanged visits to each
other's ships and barracks facilities, conducted various entertainment and
sports activities together and enhanced the friendship.
