On Oct. 20, the reporters learned from the Military Environment
Monitoring Vehicles Distribution Ceremony held at the General Logistics
Department of the PLA that, starting from Oct. 20 a batch of new-type
environment monitoring vehicles and equipment would gradually be
distributed to the PLA units, which would further enhance the emergency
mobile and scientific assessment capabilities of the army's environment
monitoring system. These vehicles would also provide the scientific basis
for the PLA in its decision-making on environmental protection and
ecological improvenment.
According to experts, the new-type environment monitoring vehicles
and equipment feature advanced technologies and good mobility, and they
have 50-odd environmental monitoring and analyzing functions in six
categories including wastewater, waste gas, solid waste, radiation, noise
and weathers. Besides, these vehicles are also equipped with data expert
information systems such as global positioning, wireless communication and
hazardous article management, through which the range and intensity of
pollutants can be effectively and timely detected. Thus it can be said
that these vehicles have considerable capability to deal with emergency
environmental incidents.

本报北京10月20日电 杨春江、记者范炬炜报道：记者今天从在总后举行的"军队环境监测车配发仪式"上获悉，一批新型环境监测车和监测设备自今日起陆续配发全军，将进一步提升军队环境检测系统的应急机动和科学评估能力，为我军环境保护与生态建设决策提供科学依据。
据专家介绍，新装备的环境监测车和监测设备技术先进、机动性强，具有污水、废气、固废、辐射、噪声、气象等6类50多项监测分析功能，并配有全球定位、无线通信和危险物品管理数据专家信息系统，可及时有效地预测污染物扩散范围和强度，具备一定的环境事件应急处置能力。 |
